Official Opening - 27th August

Thursday 27th August is another milestone in the life of our school. Our Stage 1B is to be officially opened by the Minister for Education, Mr Geoff Wilson.

Gold Coast Show Day Public Holiday

Friday 28th August is a public holiday for the Gold Coast Show. Enjoy the long weekend.

Child Protection Week

National Child Protection Week (6th – 12th September) provides an opportunity for adults to reinforce key messages about protective behaviours (feeling, acting and being safe) in an age-appropriate way all children. While schools have a key role to play in this regard, we also acknowledge that parents and caregivers have a shared responsibility to address this topic within the home setting.

It is with regret that we advise the resignation of Dallas Singh our Uniform Room Convenor.

Continued Management of Swine Flu

Under the PROTECT phase, Queensland Health is no longer routinely following up on all confirmed cases of Human Swine Influenza (HSI).

District Athletics Report

Our best athletes competed at District level last week. Although we didn't have any individual placings in the top ten in any event, all students represented the school to the best of their abilities.

Expectations Term Three

We all work together to make Coomera Springs a “good” school. We are experiencing continued enrolment applications from students from both inside and outside our enrolment catchment area. Applicants frequently mention they would like to enrol with us because of positive reports from friends and neighbours.

Optiminds

Wow – what a fabulous day it was again at Bellevue Park State School, for this year’s Opti-MINDS Challenge – Gold Coast Region. Congratulations to our team (Courtney, Jean Mari, Keely, Nikita, Emily, and Jules) that competed and were placed with Honours in their division. Special thanks must also go to Mrs Michelle Hollis who gave willingly of her time to support the girls.

In Catchment Enrolments for 2010

Applications are now open for all year levels for those in catchment for 2010. Please supply all paperwork (application, enrolment agreements, proof of residency – 2 forms, and birth certificate) for all enrolling students.

Father Day Stall

We are pleased to advise that we will be holding a Fathers Day Stall at school on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd September from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

There will be a range of items available for the students to purchase and will be priced from 50c to $5.00. The stall is a fun way for the kids to 'shop' for a special present for dad.

Allegro Fair 5 September

In a kind gesture of community Upper Coomera State College have once again invited us to be a part of a wider initiative that they are hosting.

On Saturday 5th September, Coomera Springs State School will participate and support the inaugural community festival "Allegro". Allegro is a festival in celebration of Community, Culture and Creativity designed for our communities to meet, mingle and build community ties.

National Literacy and Numeracy Week

Mon 31st August to Sun 6th Sept is National Literacy and Numeracy Week.

Please take advantage of this week to share your love of Literacy and Numeracy with your child. Perhaps you could: spend some time reading a favourite novel with your child, propose a board game for a family fun night, find some initiatives on the web to further highlight the extensive resources that are available for these areas.

Dream a Better World

Dream a Better World is an annual competition hosted by Coomera State School. Each year there is a theme that students are asked to design a multimedia presentation around.

Year 7 Child Safety Handbook

Queensland Police Legacy provide free to all Year 7 students in Queensland a “Child Safety Handbook: An Awareness Guide for Children and Parents”. The handbook is supported by the Queensland Government and Queensland Police.

School Holidays Cricket Club

There is a School Holidays Cricket Club running these holidays for children aged between the ages of 8 and 14 years. Planned as an enjoyable 3 days, covering all cricket basics,  catering to all skill levels and run by the coaches from High Performance Cricket, and is open to members, and non members of the club.

Martial Arts Classes in Oxenford

The UK's top Martial Arts School is opening in Oxenford at the Oxenford Youth Centre. They are running a number of different classes for all ages.
