Cyber Bullying

Cyber bullying is an emerging issue that we all need to be aware of. Cyber bullying occurs when the bully uses technology (website, email, mobile phone, text messaging, etc) to intimate and/ or put down others. Unfortunately, this does not only include denigrating other student(s), but can also denigrating adults including staff.

Teachers will discuss this issue with students, and talk about the legal, ethical and responsible use of technology.

Our school Rules, Student Use of ICT Agreement, and our school Responsible Behaviour Plan includes strict consequences for any “cyber bullying” and Education Queensland has encouraged principals to use the most serious consequences where they think it appropriate. These include suspension and exclusion. Copies of our relevant policies are on our website.

We encourage you to discuss this issue with your children.
